Fit 4 Life DC - Services Focused On You

Medical Exercise/Post Rehab
We manage medical conditions through exercise.

What is a Medical Exercise Specialist? The MES is a fitness professional who not only works with the typical client looking to improve their health and fitness level, but who also has gained the knowledge and skills to work with clients who present a wide range of medical conditions. The MES is trained to develop safe and effective conditioning programs for clients with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, or metabolic disorders. The MES is not trained to offer any professional rehab services provided by licensed physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and/or physicians. We do not diagnose or treat any condition. We restore muscular balance and create functional outcomes through exercise.

Clients who have been in chronic pain and who are not getting any relief through traditional means may gain benefit from our services. By managing their medical conditions through exercise, we can alleviate many of their aches and pains, making them stronger and more flexible in the process. Over half of our clients come to us suffering from issues ranging from acute injuries of the "weekend warrior" to chronic conditions exacerbated by poor exercise technique that keep them from performing at the top of their game.

We’ll teach you how to modify your routines to stay safe, strong, and injury-free throughout your life.

We have extensive experience in managing the following conditions:

General Fitness/Personal Training
We design and implement the best fitness program for you.

During your initial assessment, we'll discuss your goals and identify your body's strengths, weaknesses, and muscular imbalances. With these parameters in mind, we’ll create an exercise program that keeps you safe and injury-free, while moving towards your goals. We'll continually challenge your mind and body by making sure that no two workouts are the same--you'll never be bored.

Pilates
Build a Stronger, More Functional Core.

Pilates promotes biomechanical strength training, flexibility, and deep core stability to help align the body and achieve a level of fitness resistant to injury. Exercises focus on body awareness, posture, balance, and breath.

The studio is equipped with Balanced Body equipment, which includes the reformer, Core Align, Bodhi suspension system, stability chair, and a vast array of props. Using a combination of mat work and equipment allows for a wide range of exercises suitable to everyone from the rehab client to the advanced athlete.

Senior Fitness
Building strength and increasing flexibility.

In years past, older adults viewed strength training as an activity for the young. We now know that strength training helps keep you young. Of course, you probably can't do everything you could in your twenties--at least not as quickly--but you can reap the same benefits, which only grow in importance as you age.

Our trainers focus not only on building strength, but also on increasing flexibility, coordination, endurance and especially balance--components of fitness that are essential to continued independence and enjoyment of life. Each session will incorporate walking, bending, stationary and/or seated exercises.

Power Plate® Training
Innovative technology bringing about grounded wellness.

The Power Plate® is the premium whole body vibration device powering a new dimension in wellness solutions for all ages, lifestyles and physical abilities. It uses the principles of Acceleration Training™ to stimulate the body’s natural response to vibration. These vibrations transmit waves of energy throughout the body, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second, enhancing overall performance.

The Power Plate® equipment offers a host of benefits, ranging from an immediate improvement in blood circulation to a variety of other measurable outcomes such as:

  • increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • improved range of motion/flexibility
  • increased bone mineral density (osteoporosis)
  • improved lymph distribution
  • reduced pain and soreness and faster recovery

Its three-dimensional vibration technology continues to lead the industry, and its benefits are grounded in extensive academic and independent scientific medical research.

Weight Management
Faster, more effective results.

Regular exercise is not the only factor influencing fitness. Your age, gender, body composition and genetic history, as well as current activity and endurance levels, also play a part. This explains why two people can have very different responses to the same diet and exercise program – and why a customized program will yield faster, more effective results.

We will design an exercise program specifically tailored to your weight loss needs, adjusting the time, intensity, frequency, and duration of your workouts to maximize your weight loss, all the while keeping your body on its toes.
